A galaxy built from bricks

LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga retells all nine films of the saga with the series' signature LEGO humor. You pick which trilogy to start with and work through the episodes from there, so the order is up to you. The cast runs to over 300 playable characters, from Jedi and Sith to droids and scoundrels, and each one belongs to a class with its own abilities. Combat mixes lightsaber swings and Force powers with new blaster controls that let you aim carefully, and you can string hits together into combo chains. Outside the story, there are Kyber Bricks to find, which unlock features and upgrade abilities across the character classes. The galaxy itself holds 23 planets you can travel between freely, with quests waiting on them, plus over 100 vehicles to drive and fly, including dogfights and capital ships you can board and walk around.

Playing together

The Steam features list Remote Play Together, so one person who owns the game can invite others along for the session. The store tags also include Local Co-Op, Online Co-Op and Co-op, so there is company to be had in the fight against the Dark Side. Splitting up works well: one of you chases Kyber Bricks on a planet while another runs story missions, or you both take to space in separate ships. Character classes complement each other too, since some paths need a Scavenger, an Astromech Droid or a Protocol Droid to open up, so bringing a friend along with a different class saves backtracking.

Before you start

The game covers nine films, so expect a long haul rather than a weekend project. Picking a trilogy to begin with means you can park one and come back to it later. Combat is action-oriented with combos and Force powers rather than a punishing difficulty curve, and the tone stays light and family friendly throughout. The digital edition includes a classic Obi-Wan Kenobi playable character. Note that the store text also describes a Galactic Edition and a Deluxe Edition with extra character packs; check which version you are getting before you start, since the pack contents differ between them.
