Two games in one package

The LEGO® Harry Potter™ Collection puts LEGO® Harry Potter™: Years 1-4 and LEGO® Harry Potter™: Years 5-7 together in a single game, remastered with enhanced graphics. Between them they cover the whole run of the story, so you start at the beginning and keep going without swapping titles. Along the way the play is built around spell-casting, potion-making, puzzle-solving, lessons and dueling, with plenty of running, jumping and exploring in the classic LEGO platforming style. It's aimed at players of all ages, so the tone stays light and the difficulty stays approachable.

Playing together

The collection supports local multiplayer and split screen, so two people on the same machine can play through the same levels side by side. That makes it a good pick for a couch session where you'd rather cooperate than compete. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets someone join your game remotely through the feature rather than needing their own copy running. Either way, you're working through the same spells, puzzles and encounters as a pair rather than racing each other.

What to know before you start

Expect a mix of action and puzzle-solving rather than pure combat: many encounters are resolved by figuring out which spell applies to which object, and potion-making and lessons break up the platforming stretches. The game is tagged as family friendly and casual, so it suits a relaxed evening and doesn't demand quick reflexes or deep system knowledge. It's a 3D platformer at heart, so there's plenty of jumping and camera work to get used to in the opening hours. Since the collection bundles two full games, plan for a long haul if you intend to see both halves through — you can just as easily play a bit at a time and pick up where you left off.
