What Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a roguelike horde-survivor set in the dark realms of Norse Mythology. You pick one of the damned heroes and fight through waves of mythical enemies, taking on the Gods' test. Survive the trials and you become the chosen Jotunnslayer. Each run throws objectives and extra obstacles at you alongside the endless waves, and you push toward a final boss at the end of the challenge. The game is played from an isometric view with 3D graphics and a dark fantasy look.

How a group plays it together

The game is built around singleplayer runs, so your group plays it side by side rather than in one shared session. Steam lists Remote Play Together, which lets one person host and others join in over a connection. Compare which hero you each took, how far you got, and which blessings of the Viking Deities you managed to stack before the hordes overwhelmed you.

What to know before starting

Runs are meant to be repeated. Meta-progression carries over between attempts, handing you unlockable perks, in-game skills and upgrades, plus access to new abilities, weapons and bonuses. That means a rough first attempt still leaves you stronger for the next one.

Character choice matters early. The roster gives each hero unique skills, abilities and weapons, and mixing those combinations is how you shape a build that can handle what the Hordes of Hel throw at you. Expect increasingly tough bosses as you go deeper, and use the environment alongside your abilities to get an edge rather than trading hits head-on. Missions during a run add optional pressure: they test your skills and pay off in a richer journey through the mythic realms, but they also mean fighting relentless enemies while chasing extra objectives.
