What Idol Showdown is

Idol Showdown is a 2D fighting game made by hololive fans for hololive fans, built over two years of work and released as a free fan-made project. You pick a hololive talent from the roster and take them into fast duels, with each character reimagined as a familiar fighting game archetype with a twist. Their moves are drawn from memorable moments and personality traits, so knowing the talent helps you read what they do. Fights take place in recreated hololive locations, and the soundtrack is made of remixes of hololive original songs. The whole package leans into the anime, cute and old-school pixel look rather than trying to be a realistic fighter.

Playing it with your group

The game supports online PvP and local multiplayer, so a group can either sit around one setup or link up over the net. Online matches run on rollback netcode that Besto Game Team developed specifically to keep matches smooth, which matters when your friends are spread across different connections. The controls are deliberately easy to learn, so people in your group who have never touched a traditional fighting game can pick a talent and start trading blows without a long tutorial phase. Matches are straightforward duels: choose your idol, fight, and settle who the strongest is.

Before you start

Expect a straightforward versus fighter rather than a story campaign — the focus is on duels, arcade-style play and PvP. The roster is hololive talents, so the appeal depends on how much you already care about hololive; the moves, stages and music are all built around that. It's a fan-made project published under CCMC Corp's holo Indie brand, which is the framework that allows this derivative work to exist and be monetized under Cover Corp's terms. If your group has never played a 2D fighter, the easy control scheme is the intended on-ramp, and rollback netcode means the online side is where the game puts its effort.
