What Hyper Knights is
Hyper Knights is a fast-paced 2D hack and slash set in a medieval world. You fight your way through hundreds of enemies using quick slashes and dashes, and the combat is skill-based: as you play you get stronger, unlock new skills and learn more powerful combos. On top of the action there's a management side to it. You raise your own army, recruit allied Knights to your cause, and use the loot you gather to build up your lands. So a run is part brawling, part growing your forces.
How a group plays it together
The game supports Online Co-op, so you and your friends can team up over the internet rather than sharing one screen. You can also play Online PvP, which means the group can turn on itself and fight other players instead of the enemy factions. Between those two modes you've got options for a session: run together against the AI, or set up a match between yourselves.
What you'll be doing in a session
Your goals are spread across the map. You command your minions in battle, siege enemy castles to take back your land, raid outposts, ambush convoys, and defend your own lands when they come under attack. You also duel enemy Knights directly. The loot from all of this feeds back into building your lands and upgrading your skills, so fights feed progression and progression feeds the next fight.
Before you start
Expect a game that mixes arcade-style combat with army management, so you'll spend time both in the middle of a brawl and deciding where your forces go next. It's built around melee action with combos to learn, so the more you practice the dash and slash timing, the more enemies you'll cut through. Controller support is listed, so you can pick whichever input feels better for the pace.
