What Harmony's Odyssey is
Harmony's Odyssey is a 3D fantasy adventure puzzle game set on mythical dioramas full of riddles, perky creatures and magic. You travel through remote fabled lands that a rowdy cat has tangled up, and your job is to bring peace back to the inhabitants. The core of the game is tile-based riddles built on the classic jigsaw idea, updated with new twists. Each diorama is its own little universe, a biome with its own look and mechanics: solve the mystery around the Suburbs, outplay the Bulls home team in the Stadium, and work through eight distinctive biomes in total.
Along the way you meet fabled creatures going about their daily lives, with comedy and drama in equal measure. Fables and urban legends show up on smartphones, a dragon can get stuck in traffic, penguins want selfies, and minotaurs train for another Bull Football match. Alongside the tile puzzles there are seven types of mini games and side activities, including a round of Dragonmice Dungeons, plus magical treasures to unlock and use.
Playing it with your group
The Steam features list Remote Play Together, so someone who owns the game can host a session and invite friends along. The tags also include Local Multiplayer and Local Co-Op, which means you can share a screen and take on the dioramas together in the same room. Puzzle solving suits a group well: you can talk through the tile layouts, spot pieces each other missed, and split attention between the diorama and the mini games that show up along the way.
Before you start
Expect a cozy, chilled-out atmosphere rather than a demanding challenge. The game is tagged as relaxing, funny, cute and family friendly, with a cartoon style and a female protagonist, so the tone stays light even when a puzzle refuses to click. There are over 100 dioramic puzzles waiting, so plan for a long run rather than a single evening. Controller is listed among the tags, so a pad is a comfortable way to play.
