What GIBZ is
GIBZ is a 2D side-scrolling action game set in an early 1900s London overrun by zombies. You shoot, slice and literally surf on zombies while fighting huge numbers of them, plus other monsters summoned by an evil wizard. The tone is cartoony and arcade-like, and there is a lot of gore — gibs everywhere. You can play the whole thing solo or with friends.
Playing together
Co-op supports up to 4 players, either online or local. On the overworld map you wander between encounters, and random encounters and mini-games pop up along the way: Zombie Surfing, Gatling Gun Defence, Treasure Digging and Mayhem. If you just want to get somewhere without being stopped, you can buy Zombie Repellent. Remote Play Together is also supported, so someone can join from their own copy.
The newer Base Defence activity works in singleplayer and in online or local co-op. Bases and the waves you have cleared are tied to the host, so joining a friend means helping with their base rather than bringing your own. Spend coins at the workbench to place and upgrade walls, AI Survivors, TNT Crates, Mud Floors, Dummies and more. The first 100 waves are pre-set; after that waves are generated randomly, with bosses returning periodically. Every boss drops a treasure chest full of coins, materials and a hat or weapon you have not unlocked yet.
Before you start
Coins are your main currency: pick them up and spend them on perks that boost weapon effectiveness, movement speed and similar stats. Strong power-up weapons called Supa Weapons show up in crates or come from killstreaks, if you have the killstreak perk. Hats and face wear found on zombie heads or in random encounters give small buffs, and completing challenges unlocks special ones. Character customisation covers heads, hair colours and tintable shirts. Bosses are a constant presence — multiple monstrous zombie bosses — so expect to be outnumbered and to lean on perks, weapons and your base defences to hold out.
