What GERONIMO is

GERONIMO is a tactical CQB shooter built for Virtual Reality, set in a modern-day world where Tier 1 operators carry out unconventional operations as part of elite teams. It draws on the style of games like Ready or Not, Ground Branch, CoD: Modern Warfare and Insurgency: Sandstorm, and it leans hard on realism: careful movement, clear communication and calculated teamwork decide whether an operation goes well. Missions include some inspired by real world raids, and the game is currently in Early Access.

Playing it with your group

You can run operations solo or with a full 6-player squad. Online Co-op is supported, so your group works through the same missions together rather than against each other — the enemies are AI, and the pressure comes from PvE encounters in close quarters. Before a real mission, the squad can train together in dedicated practice environments: shooting ranges with dynamic targets and customizable killhouses. Those spaces are built for refining tactics as a team, and they also work for friendly competition — timed shooting challenges, IPSC-style courses, and comparing routes and clean runs with teammates.

Loadouts and gun handling

Your equipment is built around how you want to operate. You shape your operator's look, pick clothing and armor, then fine-tune weapons and rig: pouches positioned where they make sense, vest configured for your role, each weapon platform set up with the attachments and layout you want. These choices have practical effects. A heavier setup slows you down and makes long engagements harder; poor optic placement slows target acquisition; a full-length rifle gives reach in open space but gets awkward clearing tight rooms.

Weapons are handled by hand in VR — manual bolt locking, magazine changes, charging and slide operation are all deliberate actions you perform yourself, with slides cycling and parts moving as expected. Precision, familiarity and muscle memory matter, so expect a learning curve before things feel natural.

Before you start

This is VR-only gameplay with a high level of physical interaction, so expect to be manipulating your gear and weapons constantly rather than pressing a single reload key. It's Early Access, so content and systems may still change. Plan to spend time in the practice ranges and killhouses first: target acquisition, weapon handling, movement and room-clearing communication are the fundamentals the missions will test, and drilling them with your squad makes the real operations far smoother.
