A freeform space flight sim

Evochron Legacy SE puts you in the cockpit of a spacecraft in a vast, seamless universe with no story or character roles to follow. You decide what to do: take contracts for set pay or set your own goals and get paid on your own terms. Your decisions build your reputation, wealth, progress, and ranking. Flying is the core of the game, with pilot-controlled ship management, long-distance travel via point-to-point jump drives, and planetary descents you control yourself. Menus stay shallow so you can select options directly from the cockpit and stay in space most of the time.

Playing together online

The game supports online co-op and online PvP. In co-op, you and your group can take on the many activities the game offers together: combat in civilian space or military war zones, trading and commodity shipping, escorting, mining, exploring shipwrecks and uncharted systems, racing, spying, rescuing, answering distress calls, and clearing asteroids. You can also work on station and city building, equipment and weapon crafting, crew hiring, and ship design. In PvP, players face each other directly. The news console keeps everyone informed about commodity prices, territory shifts, economic and technology changes, building operations, and station attacks, so your group can plan its next move from shared information.

What to know before starting

This is a technical flight sim with a steep focus on piloting. Combat involves heat, shield array, and energy management, three classes of weapons, automatic and manual aiming, stealth devices, 2D and 3D radar, Newtonian physics across all six axes, and detailed instrumentation including six velocity gauges, flight path markers, compass, and pitch ladder. You also manage subsystem targeting, target scanning, and countermeasures. Non-combat skills matter just as much: trade strategy, evading detection, harvesting resources, efficient exploration, ship configuration, and cargo transport all affect survival and income. The game is singleplayer as well as multiplayer, and it supports VR and TrackIR.
