What Drift.Wav is
Drift.Wav is a casual drifting game built around a synthwave look rather than realistic drift physics. You slide cars around a colorful 3D world, and drifting earns you score, which turns into money you spend on more vehicles. The car list runs past 20 vehicles you can buy with in-game currency, and each one has its own feel, so switching cars changes how the drifting plays. There are also some customization options for your cars, plus a sky-box swap you can trigger mid-drift to change the whole vibe instantly, and VHS or Pixel effects if you want a heavier retro look.
Playing it with friends
The game supports online co-op, and multiplayer is free with multi-region server support. Your group can meet up on a free-roam map and drift together, or you can run the single-player game-modes on your own. Several leaderboards track drifting skill, so there is a shared target to chase when the group wants to compare runs. Traffic mode and endless mode give you a busier road to work with, and you can drift along to your own custom playlist while the song's wave-forms move around you; that feature works with .WAV files only.
Controls and things to know
Two moves go beyond normal driving. Hold L SHIFT to enter slow-motion, then hold SPACE or F to launch a super jump. While you are high in the air, hold S to bring your speed below 50 and then hold E to start flipping. The game is tagged for controller support as well as keyboard play.
Going in, expect an arcade feel with procedural generation rather than a simulation of real drifting. The tags list singleplayer alongside multiplayer, so solo play and group play both work. It is free to play, and the store text notes that everything included costs nothing.
