What Doll Impostor is

Doll Impostor is a first-person horror game where you act as a guardian of possessed dolls. The goal is simple to say and hard to do: find the impostor doll before 9 AM. You gather the clues and evidence it leaves behind, study how the dolls move, and eliminate candidates one by one until only the right one remains. The clock runs through the night, so every hour you spend hesitating is an hour the impostor gets to work against you.

The dolls are not props. Each one has its own objectives, preferences, friendships, enmities, loves and hatreds toward events, circumstances and the other dolls. They are smarter than they look, and they will play against you rather than sit still and wait to be caught.

How a group plays it together

One to four players take on the guardian role, and the game supports online co-op as well as online PvP. In co-op, the group splits the work: someone watches the dolls, someone tracks what moved and what did not, and everyone compares notes before committing to an elimination. Communication matters because the dolls actively try to confuse you. They can move other dolls out of position, shift several at once while staying perfectly still themselves, and even destroy other dolls to send you down the wrong path.

If you find a single doll out of its box, that is not proof. It may not have moved on its own. Reading the scene correctly is the whole game, and a second pair of eyes usually catches what one player misses.

Tools, traps and doll behavior

You can use traps to catch dolls that stay conservative, and you can bait a reaction by turning on music or a television. A doll that responds tells you something about its tastes and preferences, which feeds back into your analysis. Treat every action you observe as potentially staged. The dolls know you are watching, and they will move others around to make an innocent doll look guilty.

Before you start

Keep the door closed. Failing to do so has consequences that stack up: the impostor can escape, the order of your eliminations can be altered, or you may not survive the night at all. The game contains jumpscares, and there is an option to disable them if you would rather play without them. Expect a tense, slow-burn investigation rather than constant action, and expect to be wrong at least once before you are right.
