Running routes on a timetable
Bus Driver puts you behind the wheel of a city bus, moving passengers around an attractive and realistic city. The job is not about speed: you drive a planned route to a timetable, obey traffic rules, and take care not to upset or injure your passengers. The city is large and split into several districts of different styles, including modern areas, an old-town, suburbs, an airport and a harbour. Roads are alive with intelligent AI traffic, so you are sharing the street with other vehicles the whole time.
What you get to drive
There are twelve buses to drive, each a detailed model inspired by real-world buses. Duties vary: driving a school bus, transporting tourists, running sight-seeing tours, and transporting prisoners. Thirty routes are arranged into five tiers with increasing difficulty, and conditions change with different times of day and weather. Traffic rules are handled by a sophisticated system, and gameplay bonuses reward driving well, which gives the game replay value.
Playing together
Bus Driver lists Remote Play Together as a Steam feature, so friends can join in through that. The game is tagged as multiplayer and singleplayer, and the gameplay itself is non-violent, making it suitable for everybody. Before starting, know that this is a simulation rather than a racing game: the pace is set by the timetable and the traffic around you, and the challenge comes from following rules and keeping passengers happy across a long route.
