What Broken Edge is
Broken Edge is a 1v1 VR fantasy sword fighting game where you take the role of a warrior and fight duels in the arena. You pick from eight fighters drawn from different eras of history: Samurai, Knight, Rōnin, Viking, Barbarian, Pirate, Duelist and Tyrant. Each class has its own fighting style to learn, so switching characters means relearning when to block, when to strike and how to keep your blade intact. Land enough hits on your opponent's weapon and you can smash it, then aim for their weak points. Building on that, your weapon gains a hidden power once you have mastered your martial style. The arenas are styled to match each character's history, and the whole thing runs in vivid, stylized colors.
Playing it with your group
Broken Edge is built around online PvP, so two of you can pair off and duel while the rest of the group watches or waits for the winner. Since it is strictly 1v1, a group session works as a rotation: one player steps in, the loser tags out, and the next challenger takes the arena. Because every fighter plays differently, matches stay varied even when the same two people keep rematching — one round as a Samurai, the next as a Barbarian or a Pirate. There is also a solo mode where you can face opponents and train in the dojo, which is a good place to work on a class before you bring it into a group duel.
Before you start
You will need VR gear to play, and the game also supports mixed reality, which lets you keep your real room in view and drop your opponent into your living room instead of a full virtual arena. Expect a first-person perspective with 6DOF movement, so your real head and hand motion is what drives the fight. There is a tutorial included, and it is worth running through it early — the combat rewards timing and reading your opponent more than button speed, and each class needs its own approach. Plan for a game where you fight one opponent at a time rather than free-for-all brawls, and give each new fighter a few rounds before judging how it suits you.
