A detective story with fists
BROK the InvestiGator puts you in the shoes of Brok, a private detective and former boxer, and Graff, the son of his late wife. The two live in a "light cyberpunk" world where animals have replaced humans. Privileged citizens stay under a protective dome while everyone else struggles outside in polluted air. Brok never solved the accident that killed Graff's mother, but recent events point toward a darker truth that may be tied to their own existence. The game mixes classic point-and-click adventure with beat 'em up combat and RPG progression, so you can solve puzzles with your brain or your muscles. Choices you make affect gameplay and the story, and multiple endings wait to be unlocked. A first playthrough runs about 15 to 20 hours, and the whole thing is fully voice acted with 23,000 lines of dialogue.
Playing together
Up to 4 players can go through the adventure together. Player 1 uses keyboard and mouse or a controller, and every co-op player needs their own controller (Xbox, PS4, PS5 and others work). Co-op players can join fights, gain experience and level up, examine the surroundings, collect hidden "shadow ads", buy food and hints, and react with sounds and emojis. Six characters are playable, and you can switch between the two leads at any time. Online co-op runs through Steam Remote Play Together, and only one copy of the game is needed.
Before you start
Easy mode turns the game into pure point-and-click play, letting you skip fights entirely. All puzzles and fights can be skipped as well, and in-game hints are there when you get stuck. The game is fully playable for blind and visually impaired players through text-to-speech narration and audiodescriptions of characters, locations and scenes, with positional audio for fights on Windows. The accessibility menu opens by pressing SPACE or X on the title screen, then following the audio instructions. Accessibility speeches are in English only, though a clipboard narration option on Windows can route text to external software like NVDA. Larger fonts and higher contrast options are available too. The game works with mouse, keyboard or controller, and is verified for Steam Deck and Linux/Proton.
