A life shared with Aiden
Beyond: Two Souls follows Jodie Holmes, born with a link to a supernatural entity called Aiden. You play across her life as she faces danger, loss, and challenges that are both physical and psychological, travelling across the globe to find out who she really is. The story is driven by your choices and actions, so Jodie's fate depends on what you do. You switch between playing as Jodie and as Aiden, each giving you a different way to approach a scene — Jodie acting in the world, Aiden with his own powers. Expect quick-time events, third-person action, and a heavily cinematic, atmospheric tone with horror and sci-fi elements.
Playing it together
The game has a Solo mode and a Duo mode. In Duo mode, two players share the story locally with two controllers: one plays Jodie and the other plays Aiden. That split fits the premise neatly, since the two characters are usually present in the same scenes and cover each other. If your group is on Steam, Remote Play Together is listed as a supported feature, which lets people join in over a connection rather than sitting at the same machine. There are also two difficulty modes across the whole game, so a group can pick how demanding they want the action sections to be.
Before you start
You can play the story in chronological order or in a cinematic order, so decide as a group which way you'd rather experience it before you begin. The original DLC mission from the PlayStation releases, called Advanced Experiments, is included in the full PC game. The PC version supports 4K resolution, 21:9 widescreen, and 60 fps. The content includes violent and sexual material alongside the horror and thriller elements, so it's worth knowing that going in. The game is tagged as singleplayer as well as multiplayer, so playing alone through the whole story is a supported way to do it.
