What BombTag is
BombTag is a 2D online multiplayer game inspired by Bomberman, built around fast, chaotic rounds that last just a few minutes. You drop bombs to blow up crates, collect the powerups that drop from them, and try to blow up everyone else while staying alive yourself. The one rule that keeps every round tense: don't get blown up first. It's free to play and sits in the casual, indie, action and strategy space — easy to pick up, but with enough room to outthink opponents about where bombs land and where you stand.
Playing with your group
Matches hold up to 8 players, and there are two gamemodes: free for all, where it's everyone against everyone, and teams, where you and your friends hold the line together. Games end once you or your team are the only ones left standing, so rounds stay short and the outcome is always clear. Six maps are available to play on, with more planned. Beyond the matches themselves, there's a friends list and chat to keep your group together between rounds, plus a rank system and online leaderboard if you want to see where you stack up.
Before you start
A few things worth knowing: you can slide into bombs to kick them away from you or toward your enemies, which adds a physical layer to the usual place-and-run tactics. Character customization is available with over 800 pieces through the Character Customization Pack. Controller support is in beta, so expect it to work but not be fully polished. More gamemodes and maps are on the way, so the lineup you see now isn't the final one.
