What Black Ice is
Black Ice is a first-person cyberpunk looter/shooter RPG where you breach megacorporation defenses, steal their secrets and tech, and use what you take to help people living under a corporate dystopia. The setting is a vast open cyberspace world: you race along the information superhighway, vault between gigantic neon skyscrapers, and find everything from worldbreaker megastructures to tiny hacker black markets tucked into the cracks of the world, like the Phish Market. The story is a human one about building communities and removing obstacles for people, sometimes literally — one person's debt is so high that their apartment's pay-per-use door won't let them out.
Combat is built around mobility and combos. There are a large number of movement and combat abilities to chain together, and the customization goes far: you can even unequip your sprint and jump to slot in more guns. Perks, weapon types, and an unlock system keep changing how you play, and the respec system is forgiving enough that trying a new build is cheap. The corporations push back with nearly 100 security types and unique enemies that combo against you, so the fights keep asking for different answers.
Playing together
You can go in solo or join friends online in co-op or PvP with up to 10 players. Enemies and loot scale to match your group, so bringing more people doesn't trivialize the content. The same goes for modding: anyone can add their own weapons and items, whether they're playing alone or in a group, which means your crew can shape the game to taste.
Before you start
Black Ice is in Early Access, so features and items can change as development continues. There's a Photosensitive Mode available if flashing visuals are a problem for you. Expect a game that rewards tinkering — with your loadout, your perks, and the game files themselves.
