A samurai and an eagle in Blackmist

Armed with Wings: Rearmed is a 2D action platformer rebuilt from the 2008 Flash game. You command two characters: a resurrected samurai warrior whose blade calls down lightning and thunder, and an eagle companion that flies ahead of you. The setting is Blackmist, a ruined world ruled by the Tyrant King Vandheer after the Rebel Army was crushed. The divine ones bring back the strongest of the fallen with the title Armed with Wings, and your task is to execute that order and destroy Vandheer in his palace.

How the two characters work together

The warrior handles the fighting: strike enemies with electrified swordplay and cut them down to mist. The eagle handles what the warrior cannot reach. It solves puzzles, distracts guards, moves objects and collects items that sit in otherwise unreachable spots. Progress comes from switching between the two, so a stretch of play can be combat one moment and a small puzzle or exploration task the next. The levels are side-scrolling and hand crafted, with thoughtful puzzles and hard adversaries mixed in.

What to know before starting

The campaign spans 40 handcrafted levels, and the world is packed with monsters, mercenaries and mysteries. Beyond the main journey there are multiple modes, including survival and multiplayer, plus unlockable characters and weapons. Combat is fast and hits hard, so expect a challenge rather than a relaxed stroll. The game supports Xbox gamepad, which suits the tight timing of sword fights and platforming. It is in Early Access, so content and balance can still shift as development continues. If you want a taste first, there is a free Survival demo called Rearmed Trials.

Playing together

Multiplayer is listed among the available modes, and the game supports Remote Play Together, so friends can join in over a connection rather than needing their own copy. That makes it a good pick for a group that wants a shared run through the levels or a survival session, with one person driving and others along for the fight.
