A large-scale military simulation set in Takistan
Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead drops you into a new conflict three years after the events of Arma 2. Coalition forces led by the US Army are deployed to the Green Sea Region to restore peace in Takistan. You take on roles across the US Army, from infantry and special operatives to pilots and tank crew. The game focuses on realistic combat, modeling ballistics, round deflection, thermal imaging, and material penetration. A real-time day/night cycle and dynamic wind, weather, and environmental effects shape every engagement across three large Central Asia-style maps covering urban, desert, and mountainous terrain.
Playing together with your group
Your group can take on the story campaign together in cooperative mode, splitting into roles like infantry, pilots, and vehicle crews. For larger fights, multiplayer battles support up to 50 players. The game includes a wide range of tutorials, single scenarios, and multiplayer modes, so there are options for both structured missions and open warfare. Multiple factions are available, including the US Army, United Nations, Takistani Army, and Guerrillas, giving your group different sides to play. BattlEye anti-cheat is available for dedicated servers, and dedicated server software is included for Windows, with a Linux version available separately.
Tools for making your own missions
The built-in mission editor lets you design custom missions for your group to play. Beyond that, a full freeware SDK kit is included for creating your own game content and modifying the game. The environment is fully destructible and interactive, and gameplay includes detachable backpacks, advanced weapon optics, material penetration modeling, and real-time UAV simulation. Actions carry consequences, so decisions matter during a mission. Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead is a standalone product and does not require the original Arma 2, though it can integrate with it for a larger warfare simulation.
