Two Bodies, One Player

Archons puts you in control of two characters at the same time, one with each hand. This split-focus control scheme is the core of the game: you are constantly juggling movement, positioning, and attacks across two separate bodies while fighting swarms of parasites and large bosses. The game is an isometric action roguelite with bullet hell elements, so expect dense patterns of projectiles and enemies that keep pressure on from all sides.

Building Your Run

Each run lets you shape your playstyle through your choices. You harvest essence to upgrade your weapons and powers, and you can unlock bloodrunes that trade your health for a big boost in strength. The build decisions are open: active or passive, defensive or offensive. You will move through different environments, face various enemy types, and take on bosses as you progress. There is also an Endless Mode for runs that keep going, and different currencies drop along the way to help you progress through the levels.

Playing With Others

Archons supports Local Co-op, so a second player can join you on the same setup. The game also carries the Remote Play Together feature, which lets a friend join over the internet as if you were sitting together. The tag list includes Co-op alongside PvE, so the shared experience is about working against the game's enemies rather than competing against each other.

Before You Start

This one is tagged as Difficult, and the bullet hell and roguelite tags mean runs will test your reflexes and your ability to adapt when things go sideways. Controller support is listed, so you can play with a gamepad if you prefer. The isometric camera and stylized 3D visuals keep the action readable, but the two-character control scheme has a learning curve: getting comfortable with splitting your attention between both Archons is the first hurdle. Expect to die, adjust your build, and try again.
