What Animal Company is
Animal Company is a multiplayer VR adventure where you and your friends play as thick-cheeked animals. You head out into spooky worlds — haunted forests, abandoned mines, low-gravity nuclear zones, lava caves — to find secret experiments left behind by the mysterious Canopy Group. Landmines are scattered around, so watch where you step. The game is in Early Access, and updates add new procedural maps, quests, and physics items you can break.
Playing it with your group
Everyone runs around together in the same world, fighting monsters and reviving each other when things go wrong. Walkie-talkies let you keep in contact while you split up, and unpredictable events give you plenty to react to. The lobby works as a social physics playground, so part of the session is just goofing around with whatever you've built. You can also host your own mini games and direct a film series inside the game. The store lists both online co-op and online PvP, so there are ways to play against each other as well as alongside.
Crafting and character setup
Trash is a resource. Everything you find can be turned into weapons, mechs, vehicles, drones, and toys, so keep picking things up and see what they become. Your avatar is built from unique body parts plus fashion items, and you can go as far as making yourself a walking flashlight. The developers note that they like to spook players in person, so expect random guest appearances during a session.
Before you start
This is a VR game, so you'll need a headset to play. It's in Early Access, which means content and balance can shift between updates. The tone mixes horror with comedy — you'll be chased by monsters one moment and laughing at a friend's grenade the next. Steam players receive 5000 Company Coins and an exclusive Valve Hat cosmetic.
