Squad-Based Medieval Warfare
Ancestors Legacy is a real-time strategy game where you command squads rather than single units. Set in medieval Europe, it draws on historical events and features four playable nations: Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German, and Slav. The gameplay blends resource management and village construction with large-scale battles across detailed battlefields. Victory requires more than brute force; you need to use the terrain to your advantage, manage the morale and experience of your troops, and make use of the full range of tactical options available.
Playing Together
The game supports online co-op and player-versus-player battles. In multiplayer, you can team up with friends to take on intense battles or compete against other players. Cross-play is supported between Steam and GoG, so groups are not split by which store they bought the game from. The controls are precise and include native gamepad support, which can be handy for coordinating during a match.
Before You Start
Be aware that the game is rated for violence and gore, depicting medieval bloodshed with a cinematic action camera that drops you into the center of the fight. It runs on Unreal Engine 4, delivering high visual fidelity. While there is an extensive single-player campaign, the multiplayer modes focus on tactical, squad-based engagements where positioning and resource management matter as much as combat.
