A sandbox of magic and mischief

Waltz of the Wizard drops you into a fantastical realm as an apprentice wizard, where your main companion is Skully, an on-device AI character with thousands of voice-acted dialogues. Skully reacts to what you say, where you look, your gestures, and whatever strange things happen around him. The game leans into dark humor, so playful actions can spiral into hilariously dark outcomes. Your toolbox is full of diverse magic: summon storms of fireballs, manipulate time, transform objects into frogs, and master natural magic particles. You will also find mystical artifacts and spellbinding objects that each react uniquely, such as ancient relics that whisper and potions that turn you into a giant. The world is built for exploration, packed with bizarre curiosities and secrets to uncover.

Playing together

The Steam version lists Remote Play Together as a supported feature, which lets friends join you through Steam's streaming option. Beyond that, the game is tagged as Singleplayer, so the core experience is you alone in the wizard's domain, talking to Skully and experimenting with spells. Voice interaction is central and responds quickly, letting you speak to characters or issue voice commands to modify things in the world. If you prefer to stay quiet, an optional Type to Talk feature is available as a fallback.

Before you start

Waltz of the Wizard is fully playable on screen with mouse, keyboard, controller, or Steam Deck, and it also supports VR. It is not locked to one input method, so pick whatever suits your setup. The game has grown substantially since its original release, with multiple updates adding new content, more to do with Skully, and new secrets. Expect a sandbox built around experimentation rather than a fixed path: you can navigate Skully's past memories, hunt for glory in the Observer Fortress, or strap Skully to unstable medieval rockets. Pushing the magic system too far can break the reality of the world, so the game rewards curiosity but asks you to watch how far you take it.
