What Twin Shot Deluxe is
Twin Shot Deluxe is a 2D arcade platform shooter where the Angel Cats defend their homeland with bows and arrows. You run, jump and shoot arrows across more than 200 levels split over four worlds, each with its own enemies, challenges and bosses. One of those worlds is the new Atlantis theme, which adds 50 stages with new enemies and mechanics. Along the way you meet Colossus, a big enemy that you can climb. The game is a full remaster of the classic Twin Shot, with every sprite, animation, character, background and menu redone, a new intro animatic, ending illustrations in pixel art, and music uncompressed plus new tracks by original composer Dave Cowen. It runs at 60FPS in a 16:9 ratio.
Playing with friends
You can play solo or with up to three friends in local co-op, for 1 to 4 players in total, using gamepads or keyboards. There is also a competitive side: play against each other to see who gets crowned champion, or turn on Tag mode, where you tag other players with an arrow and take the prized hat for yourself. Remote Play Together is supported, so someone can join over a connection rather than sitting at the same screen. The hats you unlock are not just cosmetic — they carry buffs, like the twisted hat letting you shoot backwards, the old boot letting you bounce off enemies' heads, and the Medusa Headdress turning you to stone.
Before you start
Controls were rebuilt for this edition: better air control, the ability to stop quickly, coyote time and variable jump height, while still feeling like the original. Expect a linear run through levels rather than an open world, with demons and other invaders as the opposition. Loot you spend unlocks character skins, music tracks, hats, and fun options like Tag mode, Fart mode, weapon and health settings, or making your character a giant. The game is part of the Nitrome Classics series, aimed at people who played the original Twin Shot games and want them back in a modern package.
