What the game is
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes puts Travis inside the Death Drive Mk II, a legendary games console. He gets pulled in with Badman, who shows up at his trailer to settle the score over his daughter Bad Girl. The two end up fighting through the console's game library, where each world has its own hero waiting to take them on. The view is isometric and the fighting is hack and slash: charge your Beam Katana, burn the skill gauge, and link special attacks with regular ones to build combos. You can mix up your approach and settle into your own playstyle. The Complete Edition carries the base game plus the two post-release sets, Black Dandelion and Bubblegum Fatale.
Playing it with friends
Co-op here is Travis and Badman teaming up, even though Badman hates Travis. When you both unleash charge attacks at the same time, you trigger a team attack. Co-op play needs two controllers; a keyboard and mouse paired with a controller will not work. Remote Play Together is supported, so someone without the game can join in over a stream. The tag list also marks the game as local co-op, so plan on sitting together with two pads ready.
Characters and extra content
You play as Travis and Badman from the start. Black Dandelion adds Shinobu Jacobs as a playable character, two Shinobu exclusive skills, and six new Badman Adventure mode chapters; these unlock after you clear the main game. Bubblegum Fatale adds Bad Girl as a playable character, two Bad Girl exclusive skills, a new stage called Killer Marathon, and one new Travis Adventure mode chapter. Bad Girl and her skills become usable after clearing Killer Marathon.
Before you start
Expect violence, comedy, and anime-flavored action with a soundtrack that carries the tone. The worlds differ sharply from one another, so each stretch of the game plays and looks unlike the last. Set your graphics higher than 1080p and let the frame rate run unlocked if your machine allows it. Make sure two controllers are plugged in before you invite anyone into co-op, and remember that the bonus characters and skills sit behind the main game and Killer Marathon.
