A huge roster built on the NESTS Chronicles
THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNLIMITED MATCH is a fully upgraded version of KOF 2002, the second title in the UM series. It draws its lineup from THE NESTS CHRONICLES and packs in 66 characters, the most playable fighters in any KOF title. Alongside the returning cast you get Nameless, an original character carrying DNA from Kyo and K', plus formidable fighters from the Chronicles, extra characters, and hidden ones who keep showing up. Every character's special and extra-special moves have been reworked, mixing former moves and power-changing moves from past series with new moves made only for this title. The MAX2 move for all characters is stronger than ever and easier to land in real matches.
Fighting together
This is a 2D competitive fighter built around player-versus-player matches, so your group can square off against each other directly. The game also supports Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a remote session. For warming up before a session, Challenge Mode has 50 different moves to practice at both normal and expert difficulties, and Practice Mode lets you build your own combos. When you want to test your endurance against the CPU, Endless Mode keeps the battles going for as long as you can last.
What to know before starting
All graphics and background music have been completely redone, and the game balance has been extensively redesigned across the roster. New moves have been added and old ones brought back, so veteran players will find plenty that feels familiar alongside things they have not seen before. The demo screens, cut-scenes, and winning screens have all been updated, and the background music has been refreshed for more intense matches. With 66 characters to learn, expect a long road before you have a handle on the whole cast.
