What SQUIDS FROM SPACE is

SQUIDS FROM SPACE is an 8v8 team-based tactical top-down shooter set in a retro 1950s world under attack by alien Squids. You pick a side: play as a human defending Earth with shotguns, rocket launchers, grenades and bundles of dynamite, or play as a Squid using bizarre technology like deadly rays and a massive Crawler Tank. The view is top-down, and battles are chaotic but light-hearted and colorful rather than grim.

How your group plays together

Teams default to 8v8, so a full group can fill a good chunk of one side. Matches run about 10 to 15 minutes, which makes it easy to play a round or several back to back. There are different game modes across multiple maps, so you can switch things up between matches. Empty team slots get filled automatically by AI bots with different personalities, so a lobby still works when your group is short on people.

Strategy and teamwork

Resources scattered around the map matter: collect them to unlock better weapons for your whole team, which means supporting your side pays off as much as racking up kills. There are plenty of support-style weapons for players who prefer helping the team over front-line fighting. The maps are full of destructible objects — cars, gas stations, oil barrels and more — so blowing up the environment is a real part of how fights play out.

Before you start

The game is in Early Access, so expect things to change as it develops. It's online PvP only, so you'll need an internet connection to play with others. Pick your role before you spawn: humans and Squids have completely different arsenals, and a team that mixes front-line damage dealers with support players tends to hold up better.
