A Disgraced General Returns to Nortander

Three years after the Purity Wars, Nortander stands on the brink of a new era, but peace is fragile. You take on the role of a disgraced General summoned back home by the Queen, only to find the land threatened on multiple fronts. A hatemonger works to shatter the Dwarven realm while an enigmatic cult of Dark Elves harvests souls for unknown reasons. This standalone expansion to SpellForce 3 blends RPG progression with real-time strategy, offering a story mode with around 20 hours of content.

Building Heroes and Commanding Armies

The game mixes party-based role-playing with base building and army control. You develop distinct heroes through a skill tree filled with new abilities and combinations, then lead your forces using a reworked, sector-based RTS system. This system focuses on global resource distribution and unique faction mechanics. Battles involve using the specific mechanics of your army units, and flying units open up more advanced tactical options. The game features five distinct factions: Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, and Dark Elves, each with unique unit kits designed to offer replay value.

Playing Together Online

While the campaign is a singleplayer experience, the multiplayer features allow you to play with others. The game supports Online Co-op and Online PvP. A modern multiplayer lobby facilitates easier matchmaking and ranked play. In multiplayer, each faction has two unique heroes that complement individual play styles, letting you and your friends pick roles that fit how you want to play. The modding tools are also available, allowing you to create your own maps to share.

Before You Start

The game features an epic fantasy soundtrack and top-down graphics with an overhauled UI designed for readability. Full Gamepad Support is included for controls and UI. Be aware that the game is tagged with Gore. As a standalone expansion, it carries forward the RTS/RPG mix of the original while introducing new factions, a new campaign, and reworked gameplay systems.
