A hex island to conquer

Slay is a turn based strategy game played on a hex grid island. Your goal is to conquer the island by buying men and using them to capture your enemies' hexagons. Every turn you spend money to bring men onto the board, then move them across the hexes to take territory from whoever stands in your way.

Building stronger men

Combining two men creates a single more powerful man who can kill weaker men. That power comes at a cost: the more powerful a man you create, the more expensive he is to maintain each turn. Men cannot be un-bought, so you have to walk a fine line between growing your army and overextending yourself. A huge force that you cannot pay for will drain you fast.

Cutting territory in half

Because upkeep scales with strength, splitting an enemy's land is a real tactic. Sneakily cutting an enemy territory in half can bankrupt one side of it, leaving those men unpaid and useless. Watch your own borders for the same trick, and keep your income ahead of your maintenance before you commit to a big push.

Before you start

Slay is a strategy game tagged as turn-based, hex grid, indie, singleplayer, and it features online PvP. Matches move one player at a time, so there is time to think through each move. Expect a game about economy as much as combat: the strongest army on the board does not win if you cannot afford to keep it.
