What Sid Classic is

Sid Classic is a card-collecting RPG set at the Magic School Lussid, which sits in a Time and Space Rift. You play as a new boy chosen by the TS Engine as a freshman. While looking into the secrets of that engine you meet Moriarty, a girl who has lost most of her memory and hides her sorrow behind it. You promise to help recover her memory, and from there the adventure runs across parallel worlds. The cast is made up of Sidians, characters presented as beautiful women or boys, and you can meet more than 900 of them through the story. Battles are turn-based and card-driven, so fights come down to which Sidians you field and how you combine their attributes and skills.

Playing it with friends

The Steam features list Online Co-op, and the game's own content includes a Circle, which is a group you join to take on adventures with other users. Inside a Circle you can run Boss Raid Battles against powerful bosses together with your colleagues. There is also Mileage, where you compete with other users to earn plenty of items. Team building is the core of the strategy: you assemble a battle team from the various attributes of your Sidians and their own skills, then shape a plan around what the fight demands. Since the roster runs to hundreds of characters, the team you settle on will depend heavily on which Sidians you have collected.

Before you start

Expect a long-running collection game rather than a short campaign. Sidians arrive through several routes: Season gives you a new Sidian for a limited period, Special Lesson hands one over through a new story, and the Student Body Election lets you vote for your favorite Sidian and get rewarded. Exploration sends you across the world to make stories, and the scenario itself is a substantial part of the draw, so the choices-matter tag matters if you want to follow the school story closely. Voice work is a big part of the presentation, with character charm carried through the acting, so playing with sound on is worth it. The tone is colorful, cartoony and cute, with high-quality card illustrations to look at between fights.
