A large-scale Vietnam War shooter

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a first-person multiplayer game set during the Vietnam War, built by Antimatter Games and Tripwire Interactive. Matches run with up to 64 players across more than 20 maps, and the roster of weapons passes 50. You can play as the US Army and Marines, the PAVN/NVA, the NLF/VC, the Australians, and the ARVN forces. The fighting covers jungle assaults, dug-in defensive lines, and urban streets, with mines, traps, and tunnels in play alongside four flyable helicopters. Character customization lets you set up how your soldier looks before you deploy.

Playing as a group

Everything here is online PvP, so your group joins the same server and fights on the same team. Pick your roles and weapons from the Role Select menu before spawning, and coordinate who takes the machine gun, who carries the DShK, and who runs the helicopter. The Multiplayer Campaign Mode brings the whole server into a region-by-region fight from 1965 through 1975, with the forces and weapons available changing with the year. The Northern side can call on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to bring stronger PAVN forces in, while the Southern side answers with Search and Destroy. Players help pick the region, the army, and the map, so your group has a say in what the next fight looks like.

What to know before starting

The tone is brutal and gritty, and the game carries gore content alongside its realistic, tactical approach. Sound matters: gunshots and loud noises are muffled by walls, buildings, and terrain, so listening for occluded audio is part of the fight. Leaning, individual class customization, role and weapon balance, and helicopter aiming decoupled from vehicle rotation have all been reworked over time. Maps include Apache Snow, Demilitarized Zone, Saigon, Mekong, Dong Ha, and Highway 14, and new weapons for the Northern forces include the RP-46, MAS-49, Molotov cocktail, MP40, a 200-round RPD belt, the deployable DShK, and the Fougasse mine, with the M2 Browning as static support on the new maps. A Green Army Men mod is available as DLC.
