What Military Conflict: Vietnam is

Military Conflict: Vietnam drops you into 1968 and lets you pick a side: the Viet Cong or the U.S. Army. It's a fast-paced shooter set during the Vietnam War, with both first-person and third-person play. You get a range of game modes and 20 historical battlefields to fight over, so a session can go from classic team combat to something quite different depending on what you load up. The weapon list runs past 300, covering everything from standard issue rifles to heavier hardware, and there's realistic player customization so your soldier doesn't look like everyone else's. It's in Early Access, which means performance, graphics and content are all subject to change as development continues.

Playing it with your group

The game ships with online PvP and online co-op, so a group can either fight each other or work together. On the co-op side there's the zombie mode: six players online, holding out against 16 unique zombie types. You can build barricades to shape the defense and deploy turrets to cover the angles, then spend what you've earned in a shop stocked with the full 300+ weapon selection. The Rainbow Herbicides content brings the deforestation chemicals like "Agent Orange" into both co-op and single-player play, which gives your group a PvE objective beyond pure survival. Team-based play is the core of the PvP modes too, so splitting a group across both sides works just as well as stacking a squad.

Before you start

Expect an arcade-leaning, fast-paced take on the setting rather than a slow simulation — the tags run from Realistic to Arcade, and the tone is set by the line "Make War Not Love." Zombies, horror and PvE sit alongside the military PvP, so a group that wants quiet tactical play and one that wants a zombie horde can both find something here. The game is moddable, and all future content is free with no microtransactions. Since it's Early Access, go in knowing things will shift: performance, graphics and content are all subject to change while it's being built out.
