What Resonite is

Resonite is a digital universe where you can hang out with people, play games, and build things together. It works on desktop and in VR, and it's built so that everyone in a session sees the same thing at the same time. The engine keeps multiplayer experiences synchronized without extra work from the people making the content, so you can focus on what you're doing instead of worrying about whether your friends see it too.

The platform leans heavily on creation. You can edit almost anything you see in a world using the built-in tools — avatars, items, entire worlds, and even the tools themselves. A lot of the official functionality, like the home world, default avatars, video players, and UI elements, was made in-game with the same tools available to you. That means you can take them apart, learn how they work, and build your own versions.

Playing together with friends

Socializing is the foundation of Resonite. Low latency voice chat lets you talk in real time, and instant messaging covers text, invites, voice messages, and even sending items to contacts. You can share pictures, audio, or videos by dragging them into a world, and playback stays synchronized for everyone. If you want to host a party, you can stream your system audio in full stereo so everyone hears the same music.

Sessions have flexible visibility and security settings, ranging from public to fully private with an access list you control. Validation of joining users happens on your client, so a private session stays private. Self-moderation tools let you silence, kick, or ban in your own worlds, and mute or block individual users or their avatars. You can also be present in multiple worlds at once and switch between them in a fraction of a second, like tabs in a browser.

Before you start

Resonite is in Early Access, so things may change as development continues. It supports a wide range of hardware and input methods: full body tracking with up to 8 trackers, eye and face tracking, and haptic vests like bHaptics. Custom locomotion options include flying, noclip, zero-g, and building your own system. The UI itself is customizable and extendable, so you can reshape it to fit how you like to work.

If you're coming in to build, expect a real-time collaboration experience — edits from you and your friends happen live and stay in sync. The inventory system lets you save anything you find or make and spawn it in any world where you have permissions. World search and session discovery help you find what your contacts are up to or locate worlds by name and tag.
