Stabilizing a war-torn country
Rebel Inc: Escalation is a political and military simulation from the creator of Plague Inc. The war is over, but the country is far from safe. Your job is to stabilize a war-torn region by balancing competing civilian and military priorities. You need to win the hearts and minds of the local population while stopping a deadly insurgency from seizing power. The simulation is highly detailed and inspired by Afghanistan, featuring real-world development initiatives and an innovative representation of counter insurgency tactics. The game runs in real-time with pause, giving you time to think through your decisions. You can deploy to 8 different regions, each with a wildly different strategic environment, such as the gentle farms of Saffron Fields, the impenetrable forests of Distant Steppe, the Azure Dam, and the Opium Fields where you must develop unique strategies to counter the drug trade. You also choose from 8 unique governors, each with radical new abilities, like the Economist who receives an entire year's income in one go, the Warlord who trains a personal militia, the Tank Commander who fields an army of heavy armour, or the Smuggler who taps into the black-market.
Playing together online
Rebel Inc: Escalation supports online co-op and online PvP. In Vs Multiplayer, you take control of the Insurgency to try and topple the government in your opponent's region while simultaneously trying to stabilize your own. Dynamically scaling difficulty ensures that players of different skill levels can have a challenging game. In Co-Op Multiplayer, you work together to simultaneously stabilize two separate regions, sending soldiers and resources to your partner to achieve your goals. You can also jump into a Co-Op Campaign of escalating difficulty. Beyond playing against or alongside friends, the game includes a Campaign Mode where you conduct large-scale operations across multiple regions, carefully managing resources and choosing unique upgrades in a persistent world with over 150 Player Tactics, Map Features, and Insurgent Tactics. There is also a Challenge Mode to compete against the Steam Community on randomized Weekly Challenges, including an extra hard mode.

The game features sophisticated narrative algorithms that model the needs of local populations, while deadly insurgent attacks put constant pressure on your operation. The 3D world responds to your actions and thrives as you provide jobs and services, with drone cams and civilian TV channels showing what is happening on the ground. If you want to change things up, you can explore official and community-created Scenarios or develop your own to share with other players via Steam Workshop. It is worth knowing that although Rebel Inc: Escalation is a fictional game, it looks at important real-world issues. The developers made every effort to deal with them sensitively, and the game has been extensively researched and developed in cooperation with leading regional politicians, business people, journalists, international charities, experts, and governments.
