A rubber duck simulator built for doing nothing
Placid Plastic Duck Simulator puts you in the water as a rubber duck and asks nothing of you. You float, sunbathe, dip your beak, and go down the slide while a radio plays a nostalgic tune. The day turns to night, you look at the stars, turn the radio off and listen to the waves in the dark, then the sun comes up again. There is no goal to chase and no pressure to perform. The whole point is to sit in the moment and let the calm do its work.
Ducks keep arriving in the pool
You are not alone out there. Different ducks drop into the pool slowly and happily, each with its own style and demeanor, and there are 50 of them to encounter across your stay. The game includes 2 pools, special events, a day and night cycle, relaxing music, and 15 achievements. Somewhere in there is 1 UFO. An airplane rushes past overhead with stuff to do, and none of it is your business.
Playing together
The game supports Online Co-op, so you and your friends can share the same pool and float alongside each other. Everyone gets their own duck, so the group fills up the water as more ducks drop in. There is no competition and no team to coordinate, which makes it easy to drop in and out. Put the game on a second screen, talk over voice chat, and let it run while you hang out.
What to know before starting
Expect a slow, quiet experience rather than a game with objectives. The tags describe it as relaxing, atmospheric, casual, and physics-based, with dreamy colorful 3D graphics and chill music doing most of the work. It is family friendly and works fine as a singleplayer session too. If your group wants something to win, this is not it; if you want a shared space to idle in while you chat, it fits.
