A free-roaming rescue adventure
PAW Patrol World is a 3D action adventure set across Adventure Bay, Jake's Mountain, the Jungle and Barkingburg. You take control of the pups — Chase, Skye, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky, Everest and Tracker — each of whom has their own unique skills, and you drive their vehicles between jobs. The main thread is a new story about Mayor Humdinger, who has stolen the PAW Patrol Day festival posters and is causing trouble from his super blimp with the Kitten Catastrophe Crew. Alongside that you'll find flashback missions inspired by classic PAW Patrol episodes, plus bonus missions that turn up as you explore. The missions are built for pre-school players, so expect straightforward rescues rather than demanding platforming.
Playing with a friend
The game supports one or two players in split-screen co-op, and both players can control every pup, so you can pick whichever one suits you at the moment. A controller is required for the 2 player split screen mode, so have a second pad ready before you sit down. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets someone join over a connection rather than sharing a screen in the same room. Either way, the structure stays the same: pick a pup, head out on a rescue, and swap to whoever's skill fits the job.
Collecting and customizing
Pup treats are the currency you pick up while playing, and you spend them to unlock new pup outfits, postcard stamps, emotes, vehicle stickers, pup tags, artworks for the Chickaletta Exhibition and more. These are optional extras layered on top of the missions, so you can ignore them and follow the story, or roam the four areas hunting for everything. Since the world is open, there's room to wander between objectives and see what turns up. Before starting, know that the whole thing is aimed at younger players: the tone is light and comedic, the missions are gentle, and there's no difficulty curve to worry about.
