Old-school RTS remastered for online play
Outlive 25 is the remastered version of a strategy game originally released in 2000, with enhanced graphics and sound plus an updated Campaign Editor. You build your base, gather resources, research upgrades, and push an army across isometric maps in real time. Two factions are on offer: humans and robots. Each one pushes you toward different ways of advancing your army through superior technological and military levels, so the faction you pick shapes your whole match from the first building onward.
Playing together with your group
Online battles support up to 16 players simultaneously, and Steam multiplayer is built in. Teams can form strategic alliances through the diplomacy system to take down rival armies, which means a group of friends can split into opposing sides or gang up on the AI. There is also a leaderboard to compete for a spot on. If you want to practice first, the advanced AI gives you a demanding opponent in battles against the computer.
Tools for making your own content
The game ships with an updated Campaign Editor, and you can create and share your own maps and campaigns with friends and other players. Custom event scripting lets you set controlled actions and iconic moments, and you can design your own game modes. Three campaigns are available to work through, so there is plenty of structure before you start authoring anything yourself.
Systems worth knowing before you start
A research tree upgrades your units and makes buildings more efficient during matches, keeping each battle distinct from the last. Espionage and counterespionage let you scout enemy bases, intercept incoming missiles, and run other covert actions. A pathing system automates unit behavior so you can concentrate on the bigger strategic picture, and customizable unit AI does the same while you focus on base building, terrain exploration, and launching attacks. Expect a game where managing your economy and technology matters as much as winning the fight.
