What Maretime Bay Adventure is about

Sunny is an Earth Pony who wants to bring back Maretime Bay Day, a celebration of friendship and magic that has been forgotten in Equestria. She is not the only pony with plans, though: somebody is out to spoil the party by stealing cakes, letting bunnies loose and messing up Pipp's paintings. You play as Sunny and work through the adventure to find that mysterious party pooper and get the festival ready anyway. It's a 3D platformer with a bright, cartoon look, and it plays out at a relaxed pace rather than through tough challenges.

How a group plays it together

The main adventure is played solo, but a second player can join in for the multiplayer minigames. Two players can put on a fashion show together and herd bunnies, among other activities. There's also Remote Play Together, so a friend can tag in over a connection rather than sitting next to you. Expect short, shared bursts of activity inside the adventure rather than a full co-op campaign you both run through from start to finish.

What Sunny can do

Sunny's magic and her unlocked skills drive most of what happens. Fashion shows use fashion magic, and the Pegasi can fly, which opens up different ways of getting around. Along the way you unlock pony skills and accessories, including hats, jewelry, purses, clothing and rollerblades, and these are used both for getting about and for making your pony look the part. Your friends Hitch, Izzy, Zipp and Pipp appear throughout and help with the tasks.

Before you start

The game is built around a single adventure with occasional two-player minigames, so a group should know that only one person drives the story while the other drops in for specific activities. It's tagged as family friendly and casual, with a wholesome, colorful presentation, so there's nothing harsh or dark in it. Pick it up when someone wants a gentle session rather than a long, demanding one.
