Running a library full of real classics

LIBRITOPIA: Librarian Simulator puts you behind the desk of a library stocked with real public domain classics — Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Dostoevsky, Jules Verne and plenty more. The daily routine is physical and hands-on: repair damaged books, rearrange shelves, print labels, and deal with the shipments of new titles that keep arriving. You order books by author, genre or exact name, but the deliveries don't always cooperate, so duplicates turn up and pile on your floor until you decide where they belong. When shelves overflow, you can schedule a Donation Day and send the duplicate volumes off to a new home. Sorting is entirely up to you: by genre, author, publication year, country, or shelf-by-color if that's how your brain works.

Visitors who don't always know what they want

Every visitor carries a name, a history and preferences, and they show up wanting specific titles — or wanting to be pointed toward something without being able to say what. Returns come back late, books come back damaged, and some guests get so fed up waiting that they throw a book at your head. That's the core loop: help people, keep the collection in order, and absorb the friction of a room full of readers with deadlines and short tempers. Alongside the shelving work, there's full control over the building itself — walls, floors, windows, furniture, plants and paintings — plus avatar creation covering body type, hair, clothes and accessories, and an NPC registration system and tablet to keep track of what's happening.

Two modes, and friends welcome

Survival Mode is the scored run: pressure ramps up day by day, shipments keep stacking, and impatient visitors start throwing things. Relaxed Mode drops the timer entirely — no game over, no incoming hardcovers — so you can build your dream library at the speed you actually want. Both modes support online co-op, so you and a friend or partner can split the work: one restocks, one runs the desk, one quietly reorganizes everything by color while the other screams about duplicates. Going solo works too, if you'd rather be the hermit librarian.

Worth knowing before you start

This is Early Access, so the game is still changing and growing. Since launch the developers have added NPC registration, a tablet, graphics updates, avatar customization, Steam achievements, Linux support, Relax Mode and more languages, with community-suggested open-access books added on a regular basis — expect more of that as it develops toward 1.0. It runs on Steam Deck. Start in Relaxed Mode if you want to learn the shelving and delivery rhythm before the flying books begin, and save the chaos for a co-op night.
