What Legends of Elysium is
Legends of Elysium is a free-to-play fantasy strategy game that mixes collectible card play with board game mechanics. You build your own decks, pick a hero with unique abilities, and take part in turn-based battles. The board is a hex grid, and the fights play out from a top-down view, so you can see the whole battlefield at a time. The world is filled with different races and classes, and the card pool includes Legendary units and spells to hunt down and slot into your deck.
How the battles work
Each battle is turn-based, so nobody is rushing you. On your turns you strategically build lands to control the board, summon units with their own abilities, and cast spells to push the fight in your favor. The goal is straightforward: outsmart the opponent and destroy them to win. Because land placement matters as much as the cards in hand, a good turn is as much about where you put things as what you play. Deck-building and hero choice feed directly into this, since your hero's abilities shape how you approach a match.
Playing against other people
The competitive side runs through PvP leagues and battlefield tournaments. You take your custom deck and chosen hero into matches against other players and work your way up the ranks. Since it is a trading card game at heart, part of the loop is collecting cards, discovering Legendary units and spells, and refining your deck between matches to answer what the competition is doing.
Before you start
Expect a game that rewards planning over quick reflexes: everything happens in turns, and reading the board state is half the battle. You will spend time outside matches too, assembling decks and customizing heroes, so budget attention for that as well as for the fights themselves. It is free to play, and the core loop is building, battling, and climbing the leagues.
