Underground platforming with a twist

Kalimba is a platformer set on an island that has been thrown into darkness by an evil shaman. Your totems travel from the underworld up toward the heavens to bring the light back. The levels are built around jumping, switching and flying through puzzles that change the layout as you go, so each screen asks you to read the terrain before you commit to a jump. The difficulty sits on the harder side for a casual-looking game, and the puzzle-platformer tags are there for a reason: expect to fail a section, learn the pattern, then run it again.

Playing it together on one screen

The game supports couch co-op, so two people can share the same screen and work through the levels side by side. Remote Play Together is also listed as a Steam feature, which means one person can own the game and invite friends to join over a network session. Coordination matters more than raw reflexes here, since the switching and flying mechanics can be split between players to cover ground that one person would struggle with alone. Talk through the plan before each attempt and take turns on the trickier jumps if one of you is more comfortable with the timing.

What to know before you start

Go in expecting a challenge. The game is tagged as difficult, and the subterranean puzzles are designed to be solved rather than brute-forced, so a few restarts are part of the loop. It works as a solo run too, so if your group is not all online at once you can still make progress and pick up the co-op later. The tone stays light and colorful despite the darkness story, which makes it a good pick for a session where you want something that looks friendly but still demands focus.
