What kind of shooter this is

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1 is a top-down twin-stick shooter: one stick moves your character, the other aims and fires. You clear zombies in an arena-style setting with a colorful, abstract, surreal look. Rounds are short — the store text says the game takes about 10 minutes — and the design pushes you to run it back again. It runs on a new engine for this re-release, with keyboard and mouse support and a flashing lights reduction mode. It's also tagged as a looter shooter, arena shooter, and music-based procedurally generated game, so expect variety between runs rather than a long campaign.

Playing with friends

The Steam features list includes Remote Play Together, which lets friends join your session over the internet even if they don't have the game. Set up a session, invite the people you want along, and they play through their own stream of the game. Beyond that, the store text mentions that online multiplayer is planned but not yet present, so treat Remote Play Together as the way to play together right now. Individual runs are brief, so a group can rotate sessions and compare results without committing to a long night.

Before you start

The game is free to play and comes from Ska Studios and OMNIViOLET. It's a re-release of a 2009 Xbox Live Indie Game title, rebuilt on a new engine, with keyboard and mouse support added and more features and bugfixes planned over time. If flashing lights bother you, turn on the flashing lights reduction mode before you start. The tone is loud and irreverent — the title and store text make that clear — so go in expecting a fast, chaotic arena shooter rather than a story-driven experience.
