A Turn-Based Fight for a Cut-Off Star System
Heroes of Science and Fiction is a turn-based sci-fi strategy game where several space-faring civilizations clash for control of the Siren star system. This system was once the birthplace of a galactic alliance and the homeworld of a lost Primals civilization, but it has been cut off from the rest of the galaxy. The alliance has split into bickering factions and secluded colonies, and the ruins scattered across the few habitable planets are mostly ignored. You explore these planets to secure resources, upgrade your bases with advanced technology, and hire massive armies. The game follows the classic HoMM-like formula but adds new mechanics suited to its sci-fi setting.
Playing Together and Against Each Other
The game supports Online Co-op, Online PvP, and Remote Play Together, so your group can team up or face off across the Siren system. Whether you are coordinating a joint push into uncharted regions or testing your tactics against a friend, the turn-based combat gives everyone time to think. You pick from 5 playable factions, each with its own base, 7 upgradeable unit types, a special skill, and a set of commanders. In skirmish modes, you can jump into any of the 30+ maps set in colorful environments without needing to follow a campaign.
Commanders, Skills, and Battlefield Tactics
Your commanders are central to how a battle plays out. There are 24 skills, 54 active commander abilities, and various pieces of equipment, consumables, and artifacts to collect. Level up your commanders, teach them new skills, and lead them into turn-based combat against a wide range of enemies. Learn the unique moves of your units, deploy your commander's special abilities, and use tactical thinking to outsmart even much stronger opponents. Overcoming obstacles on the map rewards you with powerful equipment and ancient artifacts that tip the balance in your favor.
What to Know Before Starting
The full game contains 5 playable factions, four campaigns with 4 levels each, and 30+ skirmish maps. The deeper you venture into uncharted regions, the stronger the feeling of endangerment grows, hinting at an entity or echo lurking below. The game is moddable, so your group can expand the experience with community content. It runs on an old-school strategy foundation but pairs it with modern controls and an intuitive UI, making it approachable even if your group is new to the genre.
