What Goose Goose Duck is
Goose Goose Duck is a social deduction game for up to 16 players. Everyone is split into groups, and each group has its own objective that it needs to complete to win. The setup is simple to explain, but the round lives or dies on who you trust and who you manage to convince.
As a Goose, you run around doing tasks, report bodies when you find them, and try to vote the ducks out. As a Duck, your job is the opposite: call sabotages to slow the geese down and eliminate them one by one. Sitting in the middle are Neutral roles, each with its own secret goal, so they are not on either team and can win on their own terms. That three-way split keeps rounds from being a clean two-team fight.
On top of the base roles there are unique roles with their own abilities, so two rounds on the same map rarely play the same way.
Playing it as a group
Rounds get loud in a good way. Proximity voice chat means you only hear the people near you, so half your information comes from who happened to be standing next to you when something went wrong. It also means lying is easier, because nobody can check your alibi from across the map.
Meetings and voting are where the deduction happens: report bodies, argue about what you saw, and vote someone out. The maps have plenty of rooms, corridors and task routes to learn, which gives you cover, escape routes and places to lie in wait.
The game works on PC, Mac, iOS and Android with cross-platform play, so a group spread across devices can still sit in the same lobby. Customizable cosmetics let you look distinct, which actually matters when you are trying to pin blame on a specific bird.
Before you start
Expect a mix of task-running, mini-games and talking. If you are a Goose, doing your tasks quietly and paying attention to who crosses your path is most of the job. If you are a Duck, sabotage calls and picking targets without getting seen is the whole game.
Pick up the maps and roles gradually. With unique roles in play, the first few rounds are more about learning what abilities exist than about winning. Since the game is free to play and gets regular updates with new content, the role list and maps keep growing, so expect things to shift over time.
