A slow-life RPG with fourteen jobs

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time is an RPG where you pick a "Life" — the game's word for a job — and swap between all 14 of them whenever you like. Gathering Lives collect ingredients and materials, Crafting Lives turn them into weapons and dishes, and Combat Lives handle the monsters. Nothing locks you into one path, so a group can split by interest: some fish and cook, some mine and build, some fight. The island you land on is also a building project. You place houses and objects, reshape the terrain, cut rivers and roads, expand your own home and furnish the inside.

The story behind the island

You set sail with the archaeologist Edward and his team, following light from a dragon's fossil to an uncharted deserted island. There you find a vast abyss, a dragon made of bone, and a girl's message asking you to save the world. The trip takes you between the island as it was 1,000 years ago and the island today, and working out what caused its downfall is the thread running through the whole thing. The world itself is the largest continent in the series, with ledges to climb, rivers and lakes to swim, and mounts to ride.

Playing together

Multiplayer runs up to 4 players. You can invite friends onto your island, explore dungeons as a group, or just find your own ways to spend time together — building, gathering, or hunting monsters across the open world. If two of you are on the same couch, the 2 Player Family Co-op feature lets a second player join as your travel companion with a second controller, with no online connection needed.

Before you start

Expect a game that alternates between quiet and busy rather than constant combat: fishing, cooking and decorating sit alongside dungeon runs and monster fights, and switching Lives is meant to be routine, not a commitment. The island work is a long project — the terrain changes and town layout are yours to shape over time, so there is no single correct way to build it. PvE is the focus; the enemies are monsters, and playing with others is optional throughout.
