Build your own car from scratch
Dream Car Builder is a car design game where you put the vehicle together yourself, starting from the frame and working through the suspension and steering. The editor gives you beams and parts to place, and the physics engine decides whether your design actually works: beams stretch and compress under load, so a frame that looks fine can still fold up the moment you drive it. Designing a steering system that behaves properly takes real thought, and the game leans into that rather than hiding it behind simplified parts.
The store text is explicit that this is not a game where you snap two blocks together and get a finished working component. Expect real soft-body physics and designs that need care. If you like reading documentation and working through complex mechanical problems, this is aimed at you; if that sounds like a chore, it will feel like one.
Racing and building together
Online PvP is available, so you can take the cars you have built and race them against other players. There is also a single-player mode where you race on procedurally generated tracks, which is a good way to test a new chassis before showing it off. The sandbox mode lets you build cars without limitations, so a group can spend time in there trading designs and ideas before anyone lines up on a track.
Vehicles, tracks and maps are user-generated content that you can create and share, which gives a group a common pool to draw from. One person can be the builder, another the test driver, and everyone can run the same shared vehicle or course.
Before you start
Soft-body physics means cars deform on impact, and the game lets you slow down time to watch exactly how that happens. Destruction is part of the experience: crashes are simulated rather than scripted, so a weak point in your frame will show up the first time you hit something.
The game is in Early Access, and the developer warns directly against buying it if you are afraid of complex designs or documentation to read. Come in ready to experiment, fail, and rebuild — that loop is the core of the whole thing.
