Build a Deity's Empire
Deity Empires is a 4X, turn-based strategy game set in an intricate fantasy world. You enter as one of many deities competing to become ruler of the world. The game runs on a hex grid with classic 2D graphics. Each turn, you explore the map, extract food, natural resources, and minerals, defeat wild monster lairs, and build cities to expand your territory. Battles against rival deity armies are tactical, and your units gain skill with every victory. The design leans into a strong "just one more turn" feel, so turns tend to flow quickly from one decision to the next.
Your deity has two ways to fight. You can materialize it as a unit with extraordinary powers to lead an army directly, or transcend it into an etherealized form to cast spells across the world map and in any battle. Spells grow more potent as your magic skill increases through research. Before the game starts, you pick starting abilities from over 30 deity abilities and choose starting magic knowledge from 10 schools of magic. Races are selectable, and the world map includes over 200 unique units with choosable attacks, spells, abilities, and detailed stats, plus more than 250 abilities and over 300 spells and enchantments.
Playing Together
Remote Play Together is supported, so one person owns the game and others can join in over a remote session. The store text does not specify how many people can take part or how control is shared, so check in-game options before you start. Since the game is turn-based, players can talk through each move without a timer pushing them along.
Before You Start
The random map generator gives you full control over size and type, ranging from full land maps to one continent to island hopping maps with hundreds of islands. The AI handles strategy on the world map and tactics on the battle map. If you would rather not manage a given part of the game, you can hand units in battle, city management, or workers and resources over to AI control, or keep everything yourself. Cities support over 160 buildings with priority queues to limit micromanagement, there are over 200 technologies to research, and mercenaries become available based on factors you influence. Units gain experience and levels from wins, and you choose which new spells, attacks, abilities, stats, or attributes they learn. Magic items such as weapons, armor, shields, helms, rings, amulets, and boots raise attributes and carry enchantments like Health Regeneration, Dragon Slaying, or Invisibility. Summoned units include Dragons, Lich Lords, Rock Behemoths, and Shadow Rift Spawns. The game is moddable.
