Split Roles in the Labyrinth
CastingPlz is a 2-player cooperative roguelike where the two characters handle completely different jobs. One player takes the Soldier, who moves quickly but hits weakly, while the other takes the Wizard, who casts powerful spells but barely moves. The roles are divided to the extreme, so neither character can clear the labyrinth alone. The Soldier has to keep the Wizard alive and in position, and the Wizard has to cover the Soldier with damage. The game is PvE, so the pressure comes from the monsters rather than from another team.
Delving Through an Ever-Changing Labyrinth
A Grand Wizard once sealed the world's monsters inside a massive labyrinth and brought peace. A rumor spread that the Grand Wizard grants any wish to whoever reaches the deepest part, drawing people with their own dreams to the entrance. The labyrinth changes as you push through it, and you conquer it one step at a time, uncovering its secrets while descending to deeper levels. The sealed monsters have built ecosystems and rules of their own over a long time, and they treat intruders as a threat to eliminate. Expect tougher monsters the further down you go. Along the way you defeat enemies with a variety of spells and pick up items that grow your power and may speed up the run.
Before You Start
You need a second player for the intended experience, since the Soldier and Wizard are built around each other's weaknesses. Local multiplayer is supported, and Remote Play Together lets a friend join from their own machine. The run is cooperative PvE against the labyrinth's monsters, so coordination matters more than competing with each other. Going in, know that mobility and combat power sit on opposite ends for the two roles: the Soldier's speed is useless without the Wizard's damage, and the Wizard's spells are hard to land without the Soldier carrying them into range.
