What the collection contains

Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection is a playable history of the bobcat franchise, built by Limited Run Games to examine both the troubled past and the lasting popularity of Bubsy. It gathers four titles in one package: Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, Bubsy II, Bubsy in: Fractured Furry Tales, and Bubsy 3D. Alongside the games you get scans of art, manuals and ads from the Bubsy archives, plus video interviews covering the development history of the character. A music player lets you listen to the soundtrack tracks on their own. The games run on the Carbon Engine, which Limited Run created internally to bring legacy content to modern platforms through emulation with added interface, rendering, audio and controller handling.

Playing together

Remote Play Together is supported, so one person who owns the collection can host a session and others can join in over the network. The included titles are platformers, and the collection carries both 2D and 3D entries, so a group can work through the side-scrolling stages first and move on to the third-person 3D game when ready. Save states and rewind are available on every game, which makes it easy to hand the controller around, retry a tricky jump, or back up a few seconds when someone takes a bad fall.

Before you start

Expect a mix of eras rather than one uniform experience: the SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Atari Jaguar and PlayStation releases each play differently, and Bubsy 3D shifts to a third-person camera. Enhanced resolution and framerate apply across the collection, but the underlying design of each title stays as it was. A controller is the natural input for these games. The artifacts and interviews sit outside the gameplay itself, so a group can dip into them between stages or save them for after a playthrough.
