What Bosorka is
Bosorka is a top-down 3D action roguelike and shoot 'em up set in a dark fantasy world. You play Horpyna, a young witch who used an ancient Grimoire to summon a familiar. The spell went wrong, and the book returned to its author from the other world, uncontrollably summoning horrifying monsters. Your job is to stop the book and prevent evil forces from taking over the world. Combat is twin stick shooting with bullet hell elements, and you fight demon hordes with spells, brooms, and runes.
Playing together
The Steam features list Remote Play Together, so a group can join in through that. Beyond that, the store text lists the game as Singleplayer, so the core experience is one witch clearing levels on her own.
What to know before starting
Several huge levels are generated from manually created parts, and each level is an independent biome with its own atmosphere, mysteries, and dangerous creatures. Secret rooms, hidden passages, and valuable things sit in unexpected places, so exploring pays off. At the end of each level, a powerful boss guards the passage onward, each with an exceptional set of uncanny abilities.
You build power by combining runes. Each rune performs only one function, but combining several can change the entire gameplay, giving you things like strong health, a protective shell, a poisonous touch, or a deadly whirlwind. Spells come from mysterious mirrors hidden in the regions: burn, freeze, strike with lightning, or pelt everyone with slimy frogs. Companion demons can be rescued and raised into an army that helps in the fight, some with marvelous abilities. Brooms are more than transport: each has its own specialty and special skills, and unlocking them all lets you pick a favorite to lead you to victory.
